got the Bel Euro 550, on the whole it's pretty good good but some false alarms in built up areas (too many supermarket doors etc). In certain conditions, find that I don't a lot of advanced warning. Without it, I don't think I'd still have a clean license. Got mine from http://www.torqueic.com/

Thumbs up

I've got an S5 and am happy with it. Check the non scoob related forum - been a few comparison requests between the two recently. They certainly seem to be the best two...

Camera's on poles - they'll be gatso's then...

Talking

I've got a 550 - certainly saved me a few times - more than paid for itself. Beofre I get flamed - this doesn't mean I'm a complete nutter, but it does help a lot when you are going through unfamiliar areas.

Auto Express did a test a week or so, they still rate the 550 as the best on the market, if a little more expensive, but then you get what you pay for.

As for false alarms, yes, it will pick up the odd shop alarm etc, but if you use the various alert modes (City, City All and Motorway), you can reduce these to the point that you actually get very few alarms and when you do get one, there's a pretty good chance that it's a real gatso! Don't make the mistake thinking that it will protect from laser guns - it can detect the band, but the chances are you will already have been 'got'
