looking into some kitchen stuff at the moment, anyone know if MFI's Diplomat range of appliances is

a) any good ie does it clean well in the case of the dishwasher
b) reliable

Can't find anything on them from google.

They are doing a package for £649 for both, whereas decent Bosch stuff (which I know is reliable and cleans well) would come in at around a grand.

Anyone got any views?

cheers,

greg

I know nothing about MFI's range of white goods, but something tells me to stay awaaaaayyyy!!!

You'd be well advised to check out the Trade Appliances website. We were looking for a fully-integrated Neff dishwasher (to match our oven) and I was astonished to find them priced at £1,000 at Comet/Currys!!! "Bugger that", I thought, "we're not paying a grand for a dishwasher!".

However, I was recommended Trade Appliances, who did the same model for £450, including VAT and delivery. Very impressed with the service, too.

Edited to say that having had a look on the site, it's not inconceivable that you could get yourself a Bosch Fridge-freezer and a Bosch Dishwasher (albeit their more basic models) for about £700. Frankly, I'd go for a basic Bosch over some dodgy MFI own-brand rubbish any day of the week.

Yeh cheers Mark, the £1k price for both Bosch appliances is based on the cheapest I can find online

Thumbs up

I had an MFI, and it was nowt but trouble. Now have a Zanussi, and not an expensive built-in one either!
Agree about Trade Appliances. We bought a Neff oven, hob, and a Zanussi extractor from them for £100 LESS than Comet/Currys etc wanted for the oven on it's own!

Chucked my Diplomat cooker that came with the flat ASAP. It was SO BAD. The AEG replacement cost twice as much, but there is no comparison.

DONT!

Look in Yellow Pages for places that advertised damaged goods, too. Got our Bosch fridge freezer from somewhere in Southampton, delivered, for 370 quid, as it had a little dent in the side (ie where you couldn't see it). A year and a half later, we went to Co-op in Tunbridge Wells (the big home furnishing place, not the supermarket!) and a new one was reduced down to 540 as it was obsolete! The more popular the model, the more chance they'll have a damaged one.

No Offence Chip! The one I had, had a grill that would hardly melt cheese! The AEG can incinirate it! (best thing for goats' cheese IMHO )

Mfi sell Diplomat, Bosch and Smeg cookers. I wonder who makes their Diplomat cookers for them.

Looking into it more, the dishwasher is made by Smeg, but the fridge/freezer is made by some Italian company I have never heard of. Swaying towards named makes!
