Except that he's not a suspect sniper, he's just believed to have 'pertinent information relating to the case'.

Montgomery County, Maryland, Police Chief Charles Moose emphasized then that the arrest warrant "is not related to the recent shootings being investigated by the Montgomery County task force." But Moose did say that Muhammad "may have information material to our investigation."

A rifle capable of firing the type of bullets used in the Washington-area sniper attacks has been found in the car where two men linked to the case were arrested overnight, NBC’s Pete Williams reported Thursday. A former Army soldier and his teenage stepson, arrested at a Maryland rest stop, could be charged with murder later Thursday, law enforcement sources told NBC. The two were identified as John Allen Muhammad, 41, and Lee Malvo, 17. Added one source: “The general sentiment is we got our guys. These are the guys.”
