Thumbs up

Anyone using one?
Aye, I've had one for a few weeks now and I'm convinced it was a good investment. In the topic title you use the word 'detector' but it doesn't detect, it remembers the camera locations and knows where you are and in what direction you're travelling in.

I needed something because I reckon a gold fish would be better than me at remembering where fixed cameras are I chose a GPS system over a detector because, from experience, I don't like the spurious alarms. I chose the Road Angel because I'd had a shot of someone else's and it was fine (i.e. don't ask my for a comparison with the competitors).

How accurate, reliable are they?
Accuracy is spot on for cameras. It stops bleeping the moment you're past.

As far as reliability is concerned, I guess it depends on you to keep checking you've got the latest database loaded. At the moment, there are roadworks on the A90 at Forfar and two of the cameras have been moved. It bleeps at the old location but not the new. I'm pretty sure as soon as I update the database, it'll be ok.

Best place/price to buy one from?
I shopped around a bit (not extensively) but couldn't get much improvement on the £379 the manufacturers quote. I got mine here (only really because they take AMEX and others didn't).

I just bought one after adding six points in one go - I actually tested it on the 200 mile drive to argue against a ban !

Seems excellent - especially on that bit off the M6 where there are 3 cameras in quick succession in a 40.

Can I recommend Techne in Basingstoke (ask for Tim). 255+vat

another vote for networxautomotive - got mine a few weeks ago. rang up on the off-chance following the group buy and they honoured the price (£349) even though it must have been months since it finished - Derek is the person who dealt with the GB

seems very good for position of cameras on the ones I pass every day. I'm having a trip to lakes later on so will see how it goes in virgin territory

how accurate is speed readout as I'm using this more than my speedo (honest, officer )?

my only bit for the wish-list is that it told you what the limit in the area of the camera etc actually is (doesn't bluei do it?) or had some method of letting you know when you were under limit (display colours etc)
