Whats a Black-Tie event?

At least until your past the door staff...
You could try the rather unconventional "Reverse 007" method of dress. Unbuttoning your jacket and shirt to reveal a wetsuit.

Black Tie Means Formal Evening attire.
Black Dinner Jacket, troosers with white shirt and ... black tie. Doesnt have to mean a dicky bow and you can look cool by being different but still 'black and white'.
Have fun.

You're having a laugh right
Your job, income and age, and you've never come accross a "Black Tie" event?
Not having a go, mate, just find this very strange.

It's the tradition amongst true gentlemen to wear their DJ troosers a little too short and the newest whitest socks you can find.
You'll notice the frequency of cocktail drinks with straws/umbrellas and ladies with low-cut ball gowns showing ample cleavage. Not by co-incidence that these are both present. Nothing shows your class and breeding better than, upon draining your glass, parking your used straw/cocktail stick/umbrella between the pillows and state "I'll be back for that later, pet."

Maybe I knew all along and was just seeing what quality of people I have to 'play' with!!
I am amazed at what you lot rememeber about me
Brendon - The particular nightclubs in question were hardly Black-Tie venues!! I suppose my Bouncer attire would suffice? I just look like a ageing thug! Would like to look like Clive Dunn sometimes!
