My mate did 90mph in a 40 mph area with his supra mk4 and the only thing he got was 3 points and a 250 fine. he told the court that his father is sick and he was going fast in order to get to his job so that he wont be fired. he also told them that he needed the money to pay for his father operation and the two mortgages they have on their house. talking about lies huh?!?

30 above the designated speed limit is an Instant or should i say that is what a west yorkshire highway patrol lady told me at a recent meet. However can be as little as 30 days!!

Unfortunatley depending on the magistrate you could face a short ban plus re'test, ouch!!!!!!!!!!!!

To look on the bright side if you get a ban the money you save on fuel could go towards a track day lol

would like to know how you get on?

Good look............

30 MPH over the speed limit is NOT an instant ban despite previous comments on the thread.

I was caught at 98 in a 60 and didn't get banned Did get 6 points and £555 fine though

Having said that 60+ MPH over the speed limit will be an instant ban

Cheers,

Ian.

charlie,

if this was a "i got caught at 90mph" post i'd agree.

its not its 122.4MPH, serves him right....anyone doing 124 knows they are looking at a ban so unless you can afford to go without your car for a while dont do it.

and to say stuff like "dont preach, i bet you all speed" is stupid, no one doubts we all speed but 80-100mph is very different to 124 (unless your the muppet who feels comfortable at that speed cause he does it all the time )

and anyone who doesnt think theres much difference do this:

drive on a main motorway, find a police car and creep past at 80mph, having got past 200 yards slowly speed up to 90mph.

now find another and creep past at 100mph, get by 200yards and speed up to 110mph.

see what happens...

T

edit to add:

by the way all the "if you dont speed sell your scoob" ppl,

i dont work for MI5 so i'll sell my Omega shall i?

i dont run Microsft so better put the PC on ebay then

oh and my spare room is spare so should a For Sale board going up at home soon.

muppets

I agree with everything you said aprt from this'

"forget the scum stuff, forget the high moral ground stuff...this is a you are stupid, we are not response"

is it stupid to drive at 120 on clear open 3 lane motorway at 5am in summer, with no other taffic around.
A scooby is solid at that speed, you are endangering your self and nobody else. I've done this twice on the M1 and held that speed for a couple of mile while totally focused on the road. Theres always a chance you could pop a tyre or something and crash, but it's unlikey.
It's more dangerous to drive looking at a map or on the phone, imo. It's safer to drive a lower speed, yes but how much more does the risk go up in these sort of conditions I mentioned.

It's breaking the law by along way and I don't think its cool, btw
I'd like to say I generally drive at 85 when it's safe to do so.

Redkop and David_A,

I take your points too.

I just hate all this your a f'ing wa..ker rubbish and you should go to jail crap by some fellow scoobynetters,

heh, i take it thats flat out??.... my car does that (169.6mph) but on the limiter at 7,700rpm, Evo 6 b.t.w, the speedo showed 168mph but you carnt beat working it out through the drive ratios.

Its amazing how many people flash their lights at me when i over take them in the national speed limit(say 20-30mph faster than them), but then its the same people who are overtaking me when i`m doing 30 in a 30 zone, some people (most) have such double standards at whats right and what isnt.

Whats worse, 90 mph on a wide open A road, or 45 mph through my local village??.... me doing 90 by the looks of it.

Rich.

Actually, anything greater than 30mph over the limit is an automatic ban so 90 in a 60 is the limit. A policeman got a custodial sentence recently for 125mph so it doesn't look good!!!

I'm surprised by how self-righteous people on this bbs get about speeding. I don't *advocate* speeding, but c'mon - be serious... i would like to see the number of people who can seriously claim that they have never significantly exceeded the speed limit on a public road. If this was an Austin Montego bbs then maybe I would expect it. In my book there is a difference between speeding and driving like a tw@t. We don't know the circumstances of this 122.4mph. It could have been a flat, straight road in the middle of nowhere where you can see 2 miles+ ahead. You never know...

Charlie.

(On the other hand, we all know what the risks are so if we get caught, well unlucky and a drag yeah, but we were warned!)
