its funny cause when i kite buggy i wear a lid but my mate wont cause he thinks ppl will laugh???? mad, only takes a little tumble against a tree root or stone to cave your skull in!

I wear a helmet on my bike - not all the time - and always wear a snowboard helmet. Mate of mine hit his head one day, spent all day repeating himself, it was his own personal Groudhog Day, we laughed then a laugh now, but he could have easily been dead.

Tiggs, where do you ride your buggy? I'd love to check it out.

p.s. I did the same about 7 years ago. Found BMX parts cheaper and stronger than my Rocky Mountains

Molds, where abouts in my post did I tell other people not to wear a lid? As far as I am aware it is a free country and if I wish not to wear a helmet I will not do. It is my life and if I wish to endanger it I will do so at my own free will. You could quite easily trip over your own feet and break your ankle when you are walking down the road. Do you find me telling you that you should protect yourself with large leg protectors just in case something may happen to you?? No you do not. If you feel the need to wear a helmet at all times then be my guest. Some times I wear a helmet other times I do not, it is my decision. Thankyou.

 

No disrespect Cord, but that kind of attitude pi**es me off no end. OK, yes, it is your bonce, and you can do what you like but..

I used to get the same thing from climbers in the Lakes when I used to be on a mountain rescue team. I would be walking or climbing and point out to other climbers that they really should wear a lid. I would get the same response as you have just made.

I.e. no thought for the people who would have to come and scrape them off the mountains in all conditions, often risking their own lives to save the life of an other. Well, actually, if they fall without a lid, might not be a save rather than a body carry out.

OK, MB'ing/BMX etc. may not be as risky, but if you crack your head open, think about those people who are going to have to sort you out.

Reread that and sounds a bit of a preach. Sorry.

I understand where you are coming from Ian, when I go cross country riding in the middle of no-where I always wear my helmet and most of the time have a basic first aid kit (actually used it for the first time on tuesday in betws coed when my mate broke his wrist) and when i go downhilling i always wear my helmet and loads of body armour becasue I appreciate the level of danger involved and if I have an accident it will be down to my mates, or the mountain rescue to come and collect me. But if I am just down the local jumps having a play doing stuff I can do with my eyes closed I don't feel the need to wrap myself in cotton wool. I consider myself relatively safety conscious and didn't appreciate Molds telling me what i shoul or shouldn't be doing.

I do of course respect your right to choose.

I also respect the air you are showing off in the pics.

Once tried dirt jumping over a summer instead of XC all the time. Found it hurt too much when it went wrong, and I was too chicken to really commit

The thing is other riders, especially kids, will see you pull these moves and be inspired by it. When you are looked at as an example like that you start to take on a responsibility to set an example to others. IMO. Despite pulling a trick 1000 times, it _will_ go wrong at some time.

Perhaps it is my own misfortunes, as well as others I have witnessed injure themselves, but I always look on with dismay when I see a rider without protection. Especially a lid and especially when pulling air this big!

Ian's post also makes a lot of sense.

I apologise for saying your pic was stupid. I should have taken the time the type this as my first post.
