Liquorice lover - German food
#1
I have just wasted 2 hours on the net trying to find somewhere I can buy German food - Lidl and Aldi just keep me ticking over - anyone help me?
In particular I am crazy about Katjes Lakritz - Kinder, Pfotchen, Ohren, the lot. So question number two, anyone know of a Liquorice Appreciation Society especially where I can buy the stuff...the Dutch variety isn't bad either.

(no I really mean it I'm not talking about dope, skunk, oxo , hash whatever it's called nowadays)

SS,
Have you tried Danish salt liquorice?
It is quite possibly the worst thing i have ever tasted. You get a sort of ammonia and chlorine sensation in your mouth, it's truly gross.
Yet all the Danes love it as they have grown up on it. Madness!

Tel, you're not wrong, salt liquorice is ****-awful. I lived in Copenhagen for 5 years, about 500 yards from the Ga-Jol liquorice sweet factory. Bad news when the wind was blowing the wrong way.
However, it still tickles me to remember one of the popular brands of liquorice sweets: Spunk

OK we're off topic guys, just had to say, I rather like salt liquorice, as long as not too strong on the sodium, and yes, my kids get a big kick out of calling their Dad 'Vater'.
