Angry

I recently bought a new can of a certain 'well known' brand of deodorant and on first application found it stinging like mad

Stupidly enough I used it for a few days then noticed one morning my armpits bright red, very itchy and very very sore! Ive not used it since and 5 days later am still red & very sore.....Doc's appointment Thurs to sort it out!

anyone else had problems with deodorants?

Neil

Question

Had you just shaved? I've heard that can cause an adverse reaction

Yep in my own personal opinion , not stating this as unsubstantiated fact for everyone, Right Guard usually resulted in me getting red itchy armpits, and sometimes it used to sting like buggery when I first sprayed it on in the morning. I just avoid it from now on, I guess I'm alergic to one or more of its ingredients.

try wiping your armpits with witch-hazel.....this also acts as a mild deodorant.

Red face

Deoderant's for wimps. Not wearing it means I always get a double-seat to myself on the train, too.

LMAO at Mark

Old Swedish chemists joke:

"I would like to buy some deodorant"

"Ball or aerosol?"

"No, I want it for my armpits"

Deodourants with aluminium oxide in them will sting. These are usually prescription-only ones (roll on) as the aluminium oxide "numbs" the sweat glands and stops them working.

If your pits were wet when you put the deodourant on, it can result in stinging.

Well, judging by the other people who I have the misfortune to commute with, it's more of a "do as you would be done by" situation.

Which brings us nicely round to Puff's "Why do I work in London" thread.
