Cam belts - rubber question :)

I bought a new cam belt for my MR2 during its last service, but my mechanic didnt have the right tools to get the nut off the bottom pulley.
Therefore I said leave it for now, and I would do it later. I am now going to book it in to be done, and the belt has been sat under the bonnet of my car (remember MR2 peeps) for the last 9 months - will it be OK?
Won't have perished or anything? At £40 a piece I cant be arsed shelling out for another.

I'd guess that cam belts, like every other engine component, are used to spending their lives under the bonnets of cars - it's the environment they're designed to exist in.
My only worry would be that the rubber perishes over time, so if the belt is 9 months old, I'd be inclined to change it 9 months early next time.
