Me and the wife have two, Lionel and Charlie. They only cost about £10-15, so don't go booking your next holiday yet.
They are quite funny little chaps and have huge personalities, down side is they live 20 years. If it does mimicking then its male, the females apparently can't copy anything.
If you don't have the space/time for a dog etc, then I think you'll be surprised how much difference they make.
Beware though as they can be seriously noisy ba$tards.

Anybody know anything these birds?
Reason I ask is that one just pitched up in my garden about 2 hours ago. It's very tame but seemed a bit knackered. Ate a load of bird seed I gave it (funny old thing, it being a bird and all
) and was quite happy to sit in my hand and hop up and down my arm. 
It's got a ring on it's leg with a number stamped on it (6 I think). Anybody know how I can trace it's owner through this ring??

why not keep it?
it's previous owners can't be up to much if it's just ****5d off.
or cut the ring off and sell it. arent those things expensive?

I used to work in a pet shop, and we got loads of strays like this!
Worth contacting a local pet shop that deals with birds, as we had an equal amount of people moaning they'd lost 'em! :
