Question

Does anyone on here use them or is the general consensus that they are too dangerous ? We've got one at home (the type that goes over a bed)but not sure whether to go on it before me holiday.

Thanks, Matt.

Make your own mind up m8.
I use them before I go on my hols each year so as not to cause snow blindness to the other holidaymakers. Apart from that don't fancy using them regularly.

Use Tan stand cubicle with cold air blower before snorkeling hol on Gozo/Comino.Course is spread over 4 weeks.Saves losing some days acclimatising. And nights of lost sleep due to lobster shoulders.Wouldnt recomend it for everyday use, just when needed.

Still need sun blocker in the water tho'.Shark flavoured

I'm still burnt from the Donnington Extravaganza, so a mere sunbed will pale by comparison

Thumbs down

Having seen (and read about) the effects of skin cancer, I'd steer clear.

Have a look at this:

"A recent study showed that people who use a sunbed ten times or more a year increase their risk of malignant melanoma - a deadly form of skin cancer - by 700%."

"A recent study showed that people who use a sunbed ten times or more a year increase their risk of malignant melanoma - a deadly form of skin cancer - by 700%."

...but they don't say who performed the study, or what controls were in place, or what kind of sunbeds were used, or the duration of use? Am i really safer using a bed nine times a year for a duration of 30 minutes each, versus ten times for 5 minutes?

Several years ago on our local "discussion show" Central Weekend, there was a debate about sunbeds. Lots of scaremongering, concluded by a woman in the audience who used a sunbed and got skin cancer of the face - thus her vanity had caused exactly the opposite effect that she wanted (i.e. scars and grafting). However, when she was asked how often she (previously) used the bed, she replied ONE HOUR A DAY, EVERY DAY!!!!

Well there's a surprise

A few low-powered and short sunbed sessions to aclimatise the skin before going on holiday has got to be better than hitting the mediterranean rays at full strength on pale skin!

However, it you are a bloke, make sure that you cover your nads up - testicular cancer is particularly nasty

Anyone know where you can buy sun block in large bottles then?

Also is it right if you buy in Boots one of the girls will fit it for you for free?

Fact,

Exposure to the sun and or sunbeds exposes you to UV rays that can increase the risk of skin cancer.

There is no dispute and irrefutable scientific eveidence.

Your call, either way.

Personally, I'd rather be brown
