Got stung by a jasper for the first time last year.It hurts.Vinegar seemed to ease it though.
I don't like killing insects as I filled my lifetime quota in me yooooof, but wasps(to be pronounced rhyming with rasps)don't count.

Havn't seen any wasps this year, whereas we normally get loads. We did however have a hornet come in the house! Scared the **** out of me as I hate wasps and this was twice the size of a queen wasp!
Half a can of fly spray sorted it out though

Jaspers!! Not heard them called that for a while. Mate of mine has a next in his loft, keep telling him to call the council but he's lazier than me.
Not had one in the car for a while, but can remember the panic they cause.

"Propane and propane accessories", never a truer word spoken
About 1/2 a cubic metre worth of wasp nests under our shed when I took it down over the weekend.

quote: "JV...what did you do, drown it? "
Yeah, by the time I'd finished it probably did drown. You know in the movies when a guy gets spooked and empties 50 rounds into a guy who's already clearly dead, shouting "DIE motherfuc$%r!". That was me with the flyspray

half a can of fly spray doesnt kill it merely sedates them, i know i did this last week, it also does not kill the pupae/larvae.
however once sedated, remove the nest from its location and place in a quite corner of the garden with at least 5ft clear radius. sit one old car tyre on it, one newspaper screwed up into *****, pour half a gallon of diesel (burns slower than petrol) on the above and then light it.
you can than watch from a-far knowing the little bu66ers will not pester you.

The spray I've got definately does kill them, either that or its been sedated for about a month now. I'd never seen a hornet before so I kept it as a trophy Aparently they're Britain's rarest wasp - even rarer now! They're also the most docile, but I wasn't taking any chances! You should see the size of it

Hmmm, not seen many this year either - although it seems to be ANTS time of year. Had a huge swarm over my patio on Sunday morning, with all the flying ones too. They buggered off by lunchtime. Then came into work yesterday to find one of my colleagues had the same thing in his conservatory on Sunday. Must be their time of year to swarm

Ants! Yes! Bloody annoying things.
I spent last weekend getting bitten by them as I was trying to make a new flowerbed Then came home the other day to find them crawling all over the front wall of the house making a nest or something in a hole in the wall...I too did the JV response and half a tube of "cat friendly" ant powder later I havn't seen one

These parasites are the bane of my summer each year. I've definitely got waspophobia. I can't help but flail my arms like a fecking lunatic when one comes anywhere near me. I don't mind admitting to taking great pleasure killing them. I never kill bee's though, even though I'm phobic with these as well. I think if I had a hornet come near me I'd die of fright, big jessie that I am.
I also think anyone who pompously says "Just leave it alone and it won't sting you" deserves to be stung - lots of times - somewhere *really* sensitive.
Which reminds me, I know of a guy who was sitting in a pub garden with a few mates and was telling all his mates that if you don't annoy it, it won't sting you. So they all sat uncomfortably while this wasp had some beer and buzzed around. It then landed on this guys top lip and stung him straight away. Serves his right. Apparently his top lip swelled up like a balloon! lol
