If you want to know just how helpful they are when your car has just been stolen, read this.

That's terrible. I think the company has become a bit greedy there. It's not helping their cause or the fight against car crime.
If anything happens where we live, I think all we need do is get a few people to sit in 3 locations (I'm sure you know where) and wait

Friend of mine has a Ferrari 355 in storage.
He asked them to deliver the car to be serviced and then take it back to storage for him.
Occured to him several days later that he hadnt notified tracker, yet nobody called to ask him if he was aware his car was being moved.

The criticism is with their 'company policy' not the service isn't it ?
I got a call within 3 minutes of my car being moved on a recovery vehicle - on my mobile, so they hadn't just tried the house number and given up. The guy I spoke to had a good attitude and didn't give me any crap about 'hadn't you better tell us next time'.
I was really impressed to be honest.
On the 'company policy' side, I would have been p***** off as well, but you'd always register a change of ownership with the DVLC, so why not a tracker ?
To be honest they probably have a reason for the policy - how do we know you are a policeman on the phone etc, just like insurance companies have hundreds of the damn things. Makes you wonder though that if the schemes work with the Police to find the car, that the Police themselves haven't got an escalation route to do a live tracking reinstate ?

If its Navtrak, let me know & I'll see what I can do.
Otherwise, get onto your insurance company, as they probably will have a great deal of clout when it comes to them losing £50k. I would suggest that they refuse to allow that tracking company "official recognition" when it comes to their policies, leading to people using alternate tracking systems - if you see what I mean
(I would post this on MLR as well, but forgotten my password )

If there is a unit on the car, wont the old bill be interested in having a chat to them in regards to obstructing a member of the law? If there is a unit on board, and it can be turned on, and they catch the buggers, surely the tracking company are doing something wrong? Any old bill around (stuart?) for comment?

When i bought my car once i got home the VERY first thing that i did was called tracker and transfered the registration into MY name, and paid my subscription charge too.
IIRC i had to pay a £30 Transfer fee

I can understand their company policy - as in why give something away for nothing, but even if it was an honest mistake you would think in these times of customer satisfaction they would have tried so as to get good PR.
Pretty shoddy even when requested by the police. I'd like to know what company it was.
Alas

Ahhh
Claudius is still alive!
OK so no subscription has been paid on this car for a while, why don't tracker charge a stupid one off amount to tell them where the car is. That way, they get a good revenue (more than what they would have got if the car had been subscribed to all along), the customer gets his car back hopefully, the insurance company doesn't have to spend as much on the claim and maybe the police will catch them!
Everyone's happy then!
