Question

Phone rings and the wife answers it and the guy on the phone who is difficult to understand gives the impression he is from BT..

He says he can save us money on our calls etc etc..

After previous bad experiances the wife says that he'll have to post through the details and we will read them and consider them and maybe take them up then.

So what do they do? sign us up for it anyway and post through the contract!!!!!

Some company called Ephony, something like that.. so we filled in the cancel contract bit and posted it asap but still find it amazing that they can do this.. it was some system where they deliver you some box that plugs into the BT line..
Which if it comes we are refusing to sign for and having it sent back. It might be great but we are not going for that low life sales method.

Anyone else suffered this?

We haven't heard anything back from them since... worrying as say we were going on holiday for two weeks the day after we took the call as there is only 7days to cancel on the contract..
Dunno whether the contract is legal as we have not signed anything.

Cheers

Seem to remember a similar scam with electricity / gas - some salesman somewhere was forging signatures to make it look like he had signed more people up.

Hope you get it sorted!

Maybe worth writing again to confirm cancellation and sending on recorded delivery? JIC.

I really hate that as well

I have a general response to unsolicited calls:-

"**** off"

Them "can I interest you in...."

Me (Interrupting) "no. I'm not interested"

Them "but sir, are you,,"

Me (Interrupting again) "no, thank you"

(being polite excuses what follows )

At this point they either hang up, or if they persist, get the **** off line.

Works every time

Personally, if anyone tries to sell me something unsolicited I refuse to entertain them as a matter of genertal practice.

FFS if I want it, I'll go and get it myself.

Unhappy

Exactly Diablo..,.

They must pray on the 10% that feel intimided and go through with it....

Gets my goat...

Whats more annoying with this one is that they gave the impression they were BT, although they didn't say it and then sent through a contract!!! no the info we asked for.

They should be careful else they might get a turd in the post.

Excellent idea.

We had some bloke on the doorstep trying to sell us gas one day.

Tried to invite himself in, to no avail It was pi%%ing down

After trying politely to tell him I wasn't interested, I had no option but to tell him to go away or I would call the police for harrassment

That worked

W@nkers

Yeah, really pi%%es me off how they prey on the elderley, etc.

Since we got the dog, no such trouble...LOL....
