OK, I'm now in a situation where I've read nearly all of Raymond Chandler's books (I've got 'Playback' on order, then I'll be done). I think he is probably one of the best writers of the 20th Century. Anyone know of any author's with a similar style? Amazon suggests some odd ones (John LeCarre -- I don't think so!) but includes Dashiel Hammet. The only (tenuous) link in my mind is that Humphrey Bogart played Marlowe in the Big Sleep (Chandler), and he also played Sam Spade in the Maltese Falcon (Hammet). Are they similar styles, or should I be looking elsewhere?
