Was sitting in the lounge watching the footie on Sunday with some friends, when one of them says "Errrr A glider has just landed outside"

Looked out and sure enough someone had landed a glider on the Tye (common) just over the road from the house. Wandered over for a chat. He'd been trying to get to the local airfield (about 5 miles away) when he ran out of clouds. Decided to dump it on the nice flat bit of Tye. Unfortunately he dropped it too hard and bust the undercarriage. Anyway someone gave him a lift to the airfield and he came back a half hour later to pick his glider up.

Livened up the afternoon anyway

Aaaahhh, the joys of cross country......

What part of the country? Do you know the club? Technically speaking he probably ran out of thermals rather than clouds . Looked like a good day for it though.

Nimbus - Technically speaking I think he ran out of altitude

East Anglia. Club is based at RAF Wattisham - I'm not sure to be honest if its a civvie club or one of the Volunteer glider squadrons.

It would have to be a rather large thermal to lift it without them its true

Have some pics before they dismantled it but they're a bit bigger and my freebie webspace is full.
