My favourite royal.
Would have so loved his candid opinion of Meghan. Although he will know better to not share it
DOE silver award...well almost. My award was undermined by my "mate" who feigned a knee injury to cry off clearing the brambles from the local cemetery
Deserved it for freezing my nads off in the Malverns (yes it froze overnight), my gas stove was butane mix so that froze too, and my sleeping bag was most certainly not 4 season! Oh and the most uncomfortable leather walking boots that was so stiff that they wouldn't break in despite many many miles of walking and many red raw blisters (still have those b*stard boots...they refuse to wear out).
If it wasn't for the Duke, I wouldn't have those boots, always use propane (or meths) and will I never underestimate the tog value of a sleeping bag (unless I'm sharing )!

It was reported that viewing of both BBC and ITV plummeted when constant endless programs of Duke of Edinburgh death. YouTube and Gogglebox saw a huge viewer increase. No longer can main channels corral their viewers, they just jump onto Netfix, Disney, YouTube etc
BBC conducted their own report and found that they will have tiny viewing figures by 2025, behind Netflix, Amazon, Disney, YouTube

The bottom line is -Nobody really cares .
He had a wonderful entitled life , never lifted up a tea cup and had no job as such.
He had no mortgage and of course had dubious association with the **** party.
Enough is enough

I liked Prince Philip, he was one of the more entertaining royals. I quite like the royal family in general and they do a lot for the UK but I really don't care to know every tiny detail about what they're all up to.
It's sad that he died, but there is really no need for the amount of press coverage that a 99 year old bloke who'd been ill recently has died. Yes its important news, but its not cut all programs on all channels for 24 hours news - there really isn't that much to say about an old man dying. Apparently the BBC received over 100,000 complaints about the coverage, making it the most complained about programming in its history.
It would have sufficed to cover it as headline news and maybe a couple of 1 hour specials over the following days to celebrate his life!
If that's the coverage that Prince Philip gets, god help us when the Queen goes!

Prince Philip had no dubious associations with the **** party -- but his sisters did
"..His older sisters didn’t just get married: They got married to *****, a fact Queen Elizabeth isn’t likely eager to have the world know. When Philip’s sister Cecile and her husband, both **** party members, died in a plane crash in 1937, young Philip was sent to Germany for the funeral and had to walk in the procession among **** soldiers. None of Philip’s sisters were invited to his wedding in 1947, but the royal couple reunited with his German relations in 2015. Prince Philip, of course, can’t help who his relatives are, and he himself went on to fight for the Allies as a Royal Navy officer in World War II. Also, Philip’s mother, Princess Alice, sheltered Jews during World War II when she was living in Athens. She was honoured with the title “Righteous Among the Nations on Princess Alice” by Holocaust memorial Yad Vashem for her actions and is buried in Jerusalem..."

I never realised what a funny bloke he was - I actually enjoyed some of the coverage I saw and normally I can't stand it but seeing interviews with him put a light on him I never knew and drew me in to watching more about him. He certainly did a lot for young people and that can't be knocked.
