I bridge all 3 gaps , but mainly 80's. I'm not one to give a hard time to any generation. What are you?
Apologies for all the threads. Bored senseless. lol. Still think 80's the best

I'm a metal head, grew up on iron maiden/Metallica/motorhead etc then during mid-late teens it got heavier like slayer/pantera/sepultura
from there it went really heavy ......cannibal corpse/deicide/morbid angel etc.
I respect all sorts of music though,on my ipod I have everything from queen to carcass to insane clown posse to Johnny cash.
Anything but God-damn x-factor tripe, over hyped unskilled noise where they only do well if they are a pretty boy or have a skirt so short their fanny is hanging out.

Was born in the first half of the 70's, so should have been an 80's music fan, but just found it all a bit boring. Wasn't until the dance music revelation around 89/90 that I finally got some musical inspiration

Born in the 60s, so I remember the 70s very well, 80s were my teenager years, 90s - interest had started to drop off! I think the 70s was the best decade for music generally for all genres

I was born mid 50s so from the mid 60s onwards i listened to everything. Who remembers listening to Luxembourg 208 ? every night then falling asleep with the radio on. Then Radio 1 started 1967 ,great times. Then in the 70s i moved on to Reggae and Tamla Motown plus a bit of Northern Soul, My teens were the best years a good time was had by all. Sounds of the seventies Johnnie Walker Sunday afternoon i never miss it.

Erm. Think I’m what’s best described as eclectic. Although I hate that word as it seems to be what hipsters describe their love of the dirge that’s played on 6 music whenever I try and listen to it during my commute to/from work (been told I’m listening at the wrong time...apparently, I will persevere ).
Maybe random is better. Grew up in the 80’s 90’s. Certainly pop-wise 80’s is better (ignoring anything stock/aitken/waterman). Although I was out there listening to the likes of Dire Straits and Springsteen at primary school whilst Bros were up and coming.
Then metal kicked in
Started off mild...GNR, obviously expanding to Pearl Jam then onto Metallica. My tape collection also contained stuff like Bodycount...but more so because the lyrics crack me up (smiling right now at the intro of cop killer and KKK bitch). Never really liked Nirvana...which garnered weird looks of surprise during their height of popularity. And today I will give a glare of disdain at any Millennial that wears a Nirvana T-Shirt....like you weren’t there. I was...and, well, it was meh!
Then as a spotty teenager with a chavved up Escort (before the word chav existed), house/dance/techno moved in. Kind of a blur that lot to be honest...looking back I was probably a cross between Kevin and Perry and one of the Inbetweeners.
Then I mellowed. Which means I listen to anything so long as its played well and sung well (which rules out anything sung by Chris Martin), that either has a catchy beat or meaningful lyrics and isn’t Grime. Oh and is listenable...the loudness war continues, also anything with quantisation which makes my teeth ache; like an engine being revved with no oil pressure.
