Default Customs

How long does customs hold an item for?

i assumed it was a quick turn around but it’s been there for 7 days (not including the weekend).

I'm assuming if you paid euros it came from Europe so there is no customs "Doh"

The UK is an EU member and goods travelling within the EU are classed as 'in free circulation' and are therefore not subject to customs clearance. This means that your parcel can travel without a customs invoice, and that your receiver will not have to pay any import duty or tax before they can receive your goods

If it was through ebays international shipping program they would have calculated import and delivery costs as one and prepaid hence y you paid no more charges

Yeah, I got away with nothing added on an order from Japan; it helps to order near a public holiday I think

Well it’s finally on its way to parcel forces sorting office.

maybe next time I’ll ask the seller / shop to write on it that it’s a £10 part to reduce the fees.

The clearance fee doenst need to be paid. Some companies have started automatically charging this to make additional profit as they are paying a bulk price for customs fast track. You agreed with the sender to pay the applicable UK import duties not a fast track fee for customs. The delivery company need to absorb this cost or get the sender to pay it if they didn't advise you of it.

I believe this is FedEx. I raised a complaint to the normal complaints team, and also one to their CEOs office and got 2 responses. THE CEOs office as they had sent the bill to a debt agency. They waived my full account balance including the import fees lol

Hers a blog with a nice letter template to send them
