"The Beast"
I ended up having a bet with a mate the other night about The Beast, the car built by John Dodd that had a 27,000cc Rolls Royce Merlin engine. As I remember it would do 150mph in first gear and 250mph in second. This monster had a Rolls Royce front grill and was famous for pulling up behind speeding Ferrari drivers in the fast lane and flashing them to overtake. In the end he got sued by Rolls Royce and lost, having to remove the front grill. Anyway my bet was that the car was based on a Ford Capri, which is how I recollect it, but it was a long time ago. Does anyone know where there's some info on the web that will help settle this? anyone else remember this?
Thx
p.s. I found this: www.chessf.clara.net/rr/weird/weird066.htm although it doesn't help me!

I remember this...
Monster thingy, but I would've thought it needed more of a truck chasis to deal with the engine
Remember a picture/article in the papers about it. Didn't it have 6 wheels as well? (Not getting confused with FAB1 ??

I have seen this car at the Guildford cruise.
Sounds pretty amazing, but is a bit of a barge to say the least.
Probably cheaper on fuel than a scooby though...
