Default Different attitudes by local authority workers.

With my wife now paraplegic, I've been applying for a blue badge and a bus pass on her behalf.

The blue badge caused me problems in that my LA only accept digital photos which they take, and wanted me to either apply when she got out of hospital, or get her to one of their offices. I eventually got them to relent when I suggested to the nice lady that she get her wonderful digital camera and get in her North Lincs subsidised car, drive 50 miles to Pinderfields, take my wife's photo and GET ON WITH IT!

They then agreed to accept a photo I uploaded to them.

Meanwhile, the lass doing bus passes IMMEDIATELY asked me to upload a photo, since she assumed my wife would not be able to get into any of their offices, and three days later I had her bus pass!

So we have the department used to dealing with disability putting obstacles in our way, while the department who deals with everyone, both able and disabled, went out of their way to make it easy.

Go figure.

Uh oh, Blue badge. TBH the scheme has been over abused for decades and councils did clamp down on fraudulent applications. My authority, along with the usual doctors note (that you have to pay for), need to physically see the person it's for. They will walk out the office to the car park to see the applicant in the car.....of course this assume you can get them in the car in the first place!

Beware of the OAPs that think it's a old peoples parking pass beeping or accosting at you whilst parked in a disabled bay to move, waving their own badge frantically at you claiming their is nothing wrong with you to warrant one in the idiotic thought that the badge is for the driver.

We've only used it once so far, J32 outlet yesterday, which has loads of disabled parking.

It's the village/town high street you need to watch out, especially if that marked bay is outside the newsagents or post office/general store.
