Default Recommend a Dash Cam

Guys,
got a Nurburgring trip coming up soon and want to record our laps .
Can anyone recommend a suitable dash cam to record the event and possibly be used on the road afterwards as well?
There seem to be a vast amount of them of all price ranges.
Probably don't want to spend more than £150 and needs to be easily removed so just plug and play I think.
Many Thanks
Regards
Rob.

I have a Koonlung K1S Dual Cam in my scoob. It has two HD camearas, one in the front and one in the back.

This is the one I got. But it is not removable.

I'm really pleased with my Nextbase 312 GW. Plugs into the cigarette lighter, but the camera detaches from the mount.

Also has GPS, so will show speed and location in the software.

Same here for nextbase, cheap and have a guarantee with Halfords. I got the one with built in WIFI so you dont even need a PC to get the videos off the thing and upload them to youtube/wherever.

The K1s seemed to get a lot of negative flack with reliability issues and bugs; I nearly bought one but backed off after reading about so many people suffering issues. Have the newer ones been sorted?

I liked these as they are stealthy; I'm regularly re-fitting replacement dash cams for Euro Car Parts vans because thieves break in and rip them off the screen.

In terms of removable cams I do have a Garmin Nuvicam, which is a combo satnav, dash cam, speed cam warning and live traffic throughout Europe. It is a jack of all trades and expensive. But it does do the job, although it is pretty big and the power cable is thicker than my subwoofer cable..yet it feeds a 0.5amp 5v USB socket easily removed though as it's just a suction cup base with magnet and *** lighter affair.

I bought one of the first ones, so had it 2 years now. It works fine. The only issue it has is if you use cheap SD cards, then it has trouble writing to them. I now use fast 16Gb ones and although it sometimes still happens, chances are that when it does it'll be unlikely to be the time you need it to record, so not too bothered. If it happens twice in a hour, then I reformat the card and that'll sort it for a couple of weeks. A minor bugbear.

Otherwise the quality is excellent. Its not hard wired, just in a cigarette lighter socket and as Ali says, its stealthy so you can't really tell I've got one. I've disabled GPS speed recording over 50mph...

I had issues with the first one where the control unit packed up but it was out of warrenty so was told tough and there was no repair or replacement service.

I bought another one but the V2 version and not had any issues with that but it has only been half a day so far

The cameras are small and neat, the front camera is behind my mirror so you can't really see it from inside or outside unless you really look.
The rear camera is at teh top of the back window and doesn't really look like a camera anyway so doesn't attract any attention.

I have a hard wire kit for mine so will wire it in at some stageto free up the ciggy lighter.

Nextbase you can't go wrong . Personally I would look into the snooper or tom tom ones but they aren't cheap as they both do speed cameras.

Why do you need speed cameras I hear you say! There is a massive amount of gantry speed camera systems sweeping the country now and if you know what they are you know you need protecting. Both dash cams I mentioned do speed cameras but they are say £150 each. Not cheap but protect twice

Good shout on the speed camera alerts ,I didn't think of that to be honest.
I have ordered the Nextbase one mentioned above so I will see how I get on with that for now.

Nextbase captures gps thru its software so even if you choosr not to add it it can be added later. Just a thought if your speeding and you submit a clip
