I've upgraded one laptop and the update failed on another.
As mentioned by albob, Cortana seems to want to take over, but I've pretty much got rid of it by going into the Cortana Notebook section and turning everything off.

I've gone back to Windows 7 this weekend. I've had nothing but trouble with Windows 10 since my machine upgraded itself... The PC has run very slowly and I keep losing the Start bar (temporary fix from Microsoft to resolve that but it keeps happening).

Ah yes build 1607 the "Anniversary Edition", been out a while now, nothing but praise from me, loads of unseen bugs fixed, behind the scenes improvements and performance updates.
I like the Cortana changes and the fact that it now integrates with an Android or Windows phone using the Cortana app, you just have to be signed into both, one on PC one on your phone. Cortana app is not available to iphones as Apple has locked down the permissions it needs.

Not sure which Cortana you're talking about but this one from Microsoft is available on iPhones

If that was some kind of troll at the time taken to update Windows, the Anniversary update which is ~20gigs in size took about 20mins to complete from automatic start to finish on my rig.

Mines ok.
Apart from it decided to auto update at 3:00am (never turn off the laptop). Laptop was in its sleave so obviously ran hot, so the cooling fan kicked in and woke me up
Other than putting my desktop into tablet mode, so far so good.
