#420 Should we end prohibition on Cannabis

Personally, I'd be tempted to suggest de-criminalising a number of drugs which should hopefully remove the need for folk to go looking for these "legal" highs.
I've tried pretty much everything over the years and the one thing that a) had absolutely no upside and b) scared me into thinking something was going wrong was one of these legal drugs. Awful things and far more dangerous.

Two of the most addictive and destructive drugs in the world are alcohol and nicotine and they are legally available yet cannabis that many studies have shown to be less harmful than nicotine remains illegal....

Is nicotine really that harmful though? Or is it the in which we get it into our system?
Honest question. Always thought nicotine itself wasn't "that" bad for you but it was the act of smoking which does the damage.

I lived next to a Cannabis Farm for 8 months and my family and I suffered severe headaches. The Police procrastinated over raiding it for many months. There's now a Cannabis Farm 3 doors up but I can't be arsed contacting the Law.

Nicotine is addictive but about as harmful as Caffeine. It's inhaling smoke that should be banned, that goes for cannabis too but to a slightly lesser extent. Vaporise both.
I want people walking around stoned about as much as I want people walking around drunk, but drunk is a lot worse to me. You won't however ruin your life getting caught drinking a beer.
There's a great, up to date documentary on Netflix 'The Culture High ' that everyone should watch.

I would be surprised if the Cannabis is causing you a headache, more likely the copious amounts of pesticides and other fun stuff they're adding.

I don't have strong feelings either way tbh
to me the big problem with legalising cannabis (in the same way as alcohol and tobacco)
is it tends to "normalise" the behaviour (and I do think it can have a long term psychotic effect on some people)
but I think the decriminalisation / regulation / tax argument is a powerful one

I'm going over the park at lunchtime to make a deal with a 15 year old on a BMX. Of course I'm not but that's how it is, kids dealing drugs because adults can't buy it in a shop to save us all from Reefer Madness. The older I get the more ridiculous it is.

Legal for medical reasons only, although attitude to its use outside of this as it is now (not heavily enforced as it is generally not a major issue when used infrequently). There needs to be testing for DUI on the same level as for drink.
Legalisation would result in massively increased use and overt pot-heads irritating me even more than the drunks.
The drink/smoking argument is lame as it is abuse that creates virtually all the problems. Moderate or lower use is nearly always inconsequential. Abuse of cannabis would be no different to either.

I think you'll still get alternative sources even after legalisation/taxation. There's a huge black market for counterfeit tobacco and alcohol. IMO cannabis should remain as a controlled drug. I've seen first hand what long term persistent use of cannabis can do.

To be honest while we are at it I think we should legalise the likes of ecstasy too.... far better night out than alcohol fuelled.
Actually you could ban alcohol for me. Apart from the obvious alcoholic issue... it seems to drive half of the UK to want to fight. Ecstasy does exactly the opposite.

Voted yes, though I feel the bigger problem is the majority of British citizens total lack of ability / self control to enjoy either cannabis or alcohol or whatever and feel the need to go totally over the top on it.
This I feel is the bigger issue

It's a proven fact it causes issues with younger users with prolonged use, as the brain is still developing etc..., but like most things in life moderation is the key, I'd say yes legalise or de-criminalise it at the very least, A medical option should be looked into as in the US you can start your own business selling it to the government, who in turn then sell it on prescription/medical card etc...and how someone can live next to a cannabis farm for 8 months when the turn around time from start to finish is 3-4 months beats me
Alternatively if there is another one popped up matt just pm me the address and I'll sort it for you

I wanted to bum anything with a pulse when I had an E. Everyone was best mates.
Brilliant gear.
Ban alcohol and bring in ecstasy.

The problem with politics is politicians can't tell the truth about drugs or religion - amongst other things - they all say they hate weed and love god.
I'm pretty sure there's a picture of Obama and Cameron smoking the devils cabbage, a crime that would mean they couldn't cross the pond let alone be the big cheese.

I have good knowledge of Dark Net Markets, could get any drug delivered to your door next day. There are NO controls right now, I have no idea what you'd get.
#23
You can get a lot on the "dark net", you can even hire a person to kill someone. Point is, just because you can, doesn't mean you should.
