Who is this bleating ****? Clarkson reported the incident himself. The fellow worker he assaulted physically and verbally in the workplace didn't report it, or press charges. Or bleat. No, Clarkson wasn't sacked, but he damn well should have been, and prosecuted too. Now a whole generation of 12 year olds will think it's ok to punch people at work

Could argue the same for footballer, rugby players, BTCC drivers, ice hockey players.....a lot are happy to throw their fists in the work place......should every rugby player who throws a punch be sacked on the spot and face police action??
There is a def grey area......

In simple words. Clarkson could not be "sacked" because he was not an employee of the BBC.
Its been discussed on the other thread.

Well, also in simple words, freelancer, sub contractor, or not, you can still be sacked. As in, 'your services are no longer required, here's a sack to put your stuff in". I've sacked freelancers and sub contractors on the spot before. One for attacking another member of the workforce

If the victim does not make a complaint of assault, then no crime has occurred. Its not that the police don't care - they will speak to all concerned, but there is only so far it can go. The only other offence you can look at is a public order offence, but again if no witnesses want to put pen to paper or go to court, then you haven't got that offence either.

Freelancer's by definition won't have a contract so you can't terminate their contract.
You can of course invite them not to trouble you again

Even Clarkson knew he had overstepped the line.

This has been covered several times already, unfortunately people just don't seem to get it.

As much as some of your posts can be a bit cryptic, I think I could've figured that out for myself.

That's a little hypocritical don't you think. I believe the correct term should be 'gibbons with learning difficulties' Although of course as an equal opportunities forum we should probably open up the opportunity to other species of primate.

Same with ice hockey, yeah they have punch ups but when the ref says it's over. It's over. The players involved go to the sin bin and that's that.
