Default Proof film stars live in a dream world

so let me get this right, the film made twice what it cost, so a cool 100% profit, yet it was a failure?

Is he deluded or summit? 99.9999% of companies would kill to make 100% profit.

Does he not just mean he didn't like the film rather than the money.

What you're doing here is judging his comments based on your own benchmarks. Like it or not, against his previous achievements that is a failure. He's not basing his comments on the fact that a cake shop in Gravesend might stuggle to make 30% profit.

I think he's more embarrassed since the film which was co-produced by himself and his wife and also stars himself and his son was panned by critics as a failed vanity project.

What a film costs to make (priduction cost) and what it takes at the box office is not a clear cut way of saying it was a success or not financially.
Print and Advertising costs (P&A) alone are 50-60% of production costs.

So a 100m production cost plus 50m P&A cost suddenly makes a film that takes 200m virtually unprofitable.

He could have given back 75% of his pay if he was that worried about margins and still earned well. What's he on? $20M a film?!
