Default HMS Victory and the Vasa Museum, Stockholm

I saw an item on the news a day or so ago about how HMS Victory is deteriorating in her dry dock in Portsmouth. The presenter said she was 'one of the oldest remaining warships'.

Having been to see the Vasa in Stockholm (which was launched, and immediately sank, in 1628), I wonder if it's time for a similar building to be constructed to house HMS Victory. She is surely a far more historically significant ship to the UK than the Vasa is to Sweden.

Here's the Vasa for those of you unfamiliar with her:

I thought this might make a change from the usual NSR topics!

Yes it is, technically! There is an RN 'skeleton Crew', more of a skeleton skeleton crew. It is also our Navy's flagship as is flys the First Sealord's Colours.

Would be pretty epic to see her go to sea again.

Given the number of people now having wood-burners, I say scrap it and give free oak fuel to the poor.

^^lol^^ Hopefully that'll never happen, but getting the Government or Navy to pay for a building big enough to house it won't either..

Ive worked on the Victory, and been to a few functions onboard.

Some parts of the ship not on the tourist route are way more interesting!

If you build a shed to put it in, theres nothing to see when you enter the

harbour, dockyard.

It is possible, they have just done a similar project for the Mary Rose.

Rumour has it that the order was given to break her up in the early 1830s, but that order was quickly rescinded.
