A complete failure despite what Cameron says. The country will slide back in to complete disarray as the Taliban take back control. All those lives lost because of a few politicians wanting to be seen as movers on the World stage.

I think the mistake we make, is in thinking any of these conflicts have a finite ending. What has it achieved. Well, our enemies (as defined by intelligence sources, the Taliban) have been held back and are weaker than otherwise would be the case.

That is a success of sorts.

The British will still be providing 500 personnel to the Officer Academy in Kabul. It ain't over yet and Kabul will be targetted regularly.

The Taliban are estimated to be 6 times larger in terms of numbers than in 2001 and poppy growing was at a record high in the last 12 months. In what way is that weaker? It's been a failure by any non party political yardstick!

What would need to be done for you to call it a success?

What never ceases to amaze me is the crass stupidity of our politicians following the USA who have NEVER actually won a war into battle, they are all p1ss and wind, as soon as it gets messy they lack the ***** to finish what they started then they turn tail and run, No surprise because the place is full of descendants of Italian and French chicken *****. Law of the jungle if your going to pull a gun, make sure your prepared to use it and go ALL the way, not wave it about and give it the big un.

We 'turned tail and ran' sooner than the US in both Iraq and Afghanistan.

Oh and it's a complete twisting of history to call the French 'chicken ****s', tell that to the families of the 1.3 million Frenchmen who died in WW1
