Isn't skateboarding for kids?

Joking aside, it seems that skateboarding is coming back into fashion as I've seen several local teenagers with them... quite an often sight in the towns.

I still have my quad roller skates, bauer ice skating boots, with variflex baseplate and trucks, sims street snakes with german precision bearings.

Still have the odd run out on them too, not quite as stylish as I used to be but I still got it goin on.

I'd suggest the evil bay, but there are plenty of shops stocking them, I think there's a bit of a re-surgance in skate boarding and quad skates, I had to don a pair that belonged to a friends daughters boy friend recently in London and show them how to do jump turns and style it out backwards.

48yrs old skating round a school playground with a bunch of 15/18 yr old kids watching in amazement, they think it's the first time round.

Coming back into fashion? I don't think it's ever been out of fashion. My eldest is obsessed and spends all his spare time (when his studying is finished) down the skate park.

It's big money when they start collecting different boards for different uses and then modifying them etc. I was never into it as a kid so only picked up on it since my eldest got into it.

I wish I could use a skateboard, it's a damn site quicker than walking anywhere and better than cycling as you haven't got to worry about chaining it up outside shops.

I started skateboarding in 94, skated until about 2002 when i tried a front lip slide down an 8 stepper rail and went horribly wrong. Was the single most painful thing i have experienced (except toothe ache lol) landed face first at the bottom of the rail!
Its always been around, it went mental when games like Tony Hawk on the PS1 came out, and soon after that it turned very commercial

All ages enjoy it, most of the old pros when i skated still sake - Eric Koston, Tom Penny etc, they must be in their late 40's now.
