Beckham (not the one who never smiles)

Just a thought, you have to say "well done to the bloke". It would be so easy to sit back and take it easy, but no, he takes on the ownership of a football club. Of course he will be advised to the hilt, but still, i take my hat off to him for having a go.
Good luck to the fella.

Good one. At such young age of 38, Beckham has achieved a lot, and can afford to do a lot with his wealth and name.
He has achieved too many kids as well by his 38, but hey, he can afford to have them. I think he'll score even more with the help of Victoria in that department. I predict a football team.

Not in this case.
Look...the Americans don't REALLY like football (soccer). They think it's a game for their girls to play.
The place he's trying to start up a team has already HAD one and it went bust...there's that much support.
Yet here, in the UK, there are absolutely loads of clubs who would welcome, and NEED financial support. The Premiersh1te has concentrated the money in itself and smaller clubs are struggling.
Portsmouth, who won the FA Cup four years ago, could slide into the Conference (non league) this season
There are already about ten teams who used to play League football who are now in the conference or lower, some gone for good.
Wouldn't his money be better spent here, where it would be appreciated?

There's too much money as it is in English football. Can't say I blame him for spending it elsewhere, though he did try with his David Beckham Acadamy for kids, though that since closed.

From a investment point of view USA is a prime target; Football is a developing sport there is huge opertunities there, whilst the UK has been mined and dug over and over (look at all the UK teams in financial difficulty) - there is no money it anymore (well not as a investor anyway, unless you want to fiddle the books). And if he ever manages to get a world-class team together, it could disjoint the noses of a few major European clubs (and UK), which would be more than welcome in my eyes.
Bit like professional rounders in the UK isn't worth a penny a billion dollar industry in the USA. The problem with the UK is it doesn't help aid investors in getting their confidence to plough money in.
Beckham's football acadamy was UK based originally - it shows that there was intent, but the UK is so finacially restrictive these days. And unless you want to bankrupt yourself and your investors, you'd quickly realise better things can be done overseas.
Sad but true IMHO.
If you lost all your millions and ended up with nothing you'd be called a stupid t**ser. So you are never going to throw money at something that isn't workable, even if it were for an ideal.
