Clutch time
Hi guys,
The Type 25 is going to Rich for a service and a new clutch next Friday and he has suggested I go for an uprated Exedy pink box clutch. As far as I can tell the car has a standard Blue box clutch at the moment like all other STI's of that era.
The old clutch seemed fine up until it started slipping a bit - and I was happy the amount of grab and lack of judder.
Rich tells me the pink box would be a bit more grabby which I would be fine with as long as it doesnt judder at all and become annoying to drive.
From what I can gather the standard blue box is probably close to its limit at 350/360, so for this reason and the fact that it might be nice to have a bit more grab I'm leaning towards the pink box.
I doubt I'll ever go or much more power, but I'll probably track it at some point.
Any thoughts?
Cheers
Mike

Hi Mike,
Tbh i'd go with the pink clutch like Rich has suggested, Alan has got one in his STI and there is no judder on that and is nice to drive with. As far as i'm aware exedy pink clutches are good but then it's up to you what you go for

Mike- give Jim a ring, I'm pretty sure he's upgraded and having driven his i thought it was very good, there's no judder at all. Also I think Ricky upgraded his clutch on the spec C but I can't remember which his was (although he had a problem with his!).

I have the pink on my bug and it works well although they are noisy - I've heard quite a few that rattle on overrun, but they grip well and will hold a 4-wheel spin in the dry

Cheers for the input.
I think I'll take the plunge and go with the pink.
Just hoping I don't end up with a noisy one now
