Here are a few pics from the Rally
Our car with John's (Sal's Dad) in the background
Scoob recce car - we had loads of rally traffic going past our front door. So, being true Rally Nobbers (TM) we stood outside and took photos
Thanks to SammyH for the vinyl
Thursday Shakedown. Cr*p weather and the so-called 'spectator path' to view the cars was a joke - to think they had the nerve to charge for this
Shakedown service. We walked in and found ourselves in the restricted service area, so we took full advantage with the camera
Sal just casually walking past Mark Higgin's car
Trawscoed Friday. Gronholm fully committed - my favourite shot
Halfway Saturday. Gronholm's accident
Margam Sunday. Be honest - does this look like Wales in November?
I think this is John Felstead's mate from Canada
McRae - committed as ever - the best driver to watch
....then he went around the next corner...
And finally John's lovely Scoob
Overall we enjoyed the rally. Everyone agreed that the day spent at Halfway was one of the best ever. The general organisation of the rally was poor though. Ticketing was a joke. Marshalling at Margam was at times non-extistant.
There were wrong directions given in the notes - incorrect information in the brochure etc etc. Anyone who attempted to actually do in a day what the Event passes would allow were mad. They do need more flexibility on what stages you can view and where. Don't even get me started on Walter's Arena - waste of a million quid IMHO.
Will we go again next year? Probably, unless the prices get totally out of control.
We're off to Monte Carlo in January, so it will be interesting to compare the two events..
Cheers

Cheers chaps - I was pleased with the shots - Fuji Finepix 2800 did a great job!
RB - yeah it was possible - except we like to see the whole stage. I think if we'd done that, we would have never made it to all of them, got parked and found a decent place to spectate. It would have been more realistic for the organisers to allow you to nominate a choice of stages and llocate a ticket, rather than just trying to justify the price hike by saying you could see 3 stages in a day.

been playing with the scanner and this is what i have come up with so far.
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/viper-uk/wrc.html
Not very good but its only a crapo camera. Most are taken from SS4 i.e they were going slow/stopped

Like to say super pictures Chris, interested to see someone got reasonably close to the action. Everytime we tried the marshals stopped us. We usally view from margam on Sat but this time we went to Crychan, reasonably good down at spectator point 11 & 12 but 8 & 9 were awful for Crychan 2. IMHO not worth the money and to have to go and collect the tickets on Friday night from Cardif was a right pain. Walter arena was ok-ish but not really rally spectating like deep into Margam forest. IMHO far too restrictive for spectating and how many competitors actually entered, not enough IMHO.

That explains it then!
Paul - you're right about the spectating. That's why we made a careful choice on where we should go - limit it to 2 stages a day and get there bloody early!
We were lucky in so far that we had to collect the tickets from Rally HQ on Monday (pathetic - seeing as we had ordered them in September). When we got our Event Pass 2 pack, we noticed that it said Trawscoed not Brechfa. We reckoned they cocked up the number of tickets issued and then reprinted a load for Trawscoed - fine by us, as it wasn't crowded and we got very close - as you can see from the pictures.
Going back to my previous point, I would much prefer that they gave you a choice of say 4 stages a day, you pick two when you book and that becomes your event pass - first come, first served for the tickets. The idea of trying to herd people around like sheep is pathetic and insulting to anyone who has half a brain and is capable of reading a map and being responsible when on stage.

Love the pictures!
Route 2 was a winner for me. Apart from the confusion about Fridays first stage which gave me something to do anyhow.
Cheers to The East Herts Scooby Massive...!!!
