Cheers Steve
Country lanes with mud and leaves don't go well together when cars are coming the other way. I was'nt driving fast, i when i came to press the brakes i just slid. It was either a head-on at about 10mph or try and take avoidance, i tried to drive up a bank but still scraped along the side of the other car
Nevermind thats what insurance is for( might get rid of some of them stonechips). at least its only cosmetic and not mechanical

Ouch
I did almost exactly the same damage to mine, thought mine was a very stupid car park error, hmm. Anyway, I needed a new wing cos the scooby ones are made of tin foil. If its any help, mine came out perfect once blended in. Didnt use insurance, cost about 400 quid

I'm not worried about the finish cos my neighbour is a good sprayer(Porshce's and Ferrari's to name a few)
Oh well

Sorry to see your pride and joy dented mate. I know how you feel after dinking mine a while ago.
Hope she's fixed soon. Your right about the insurance, you pay for it so you may as well use it now and again.
Nathan..

glad to see you've got the new disks/bells on. I saw the old ones :-o when you put it in to get it replaced! they were a mess ! how on earth did you manage to get them in that state !??!

Steve, cos i needed new discs i decided to get the most out of the old ones, so when they started to grind i new it was time to change but i did'nt take into account that Geoff might be busy so i had to wait an extra 2 weeks to get them fitted

Scott,
Sorry to see the car is worse for wear.
What brake upgrade have you got on your car and could you advise cost and who did it? Was thinking of doing something with Jen's.
Cheers

Hi Mike, how's things
I bought Knowlesy's Prodrive 330 kit off of him last year but some how i manage to kill the discs so i decided to go for a disc&bell set-up so i bought some AP curved vein racing discs and got Hi-spec to make me some bells to suit the caliper
not cheap mind
discs = £450
pads= £200
bells&fitting=£250

Scott,
Just out of interest, could you tell me of any other mods you have done to the car and how they improved it, along with costs. You could PM at mike@rjpipe.demon.co.uk if you didn't want the prices to be public knowledge. Looks as though you have a Prodrive STi type spoiler as well?
Cheers again!

Mike, thats not a STI spoiler its a real WRC one
Performance mods
PPP
Scoobysport up&downpipes and centre (full de-cat)
Ported Manifold headers
APS induction kit= £170
Forge dumpvalve=£140
HKS fuel controller=£600 with installation
286bhp with 275lb/ft
Prodrive brakes
Prodrive springs
Scoobysport carbon sti7 scoop
Scoobysport HID hella's =£750
WRC Spoiler = £1200 (second hand )
DR motorsport grille =£150
My brakes are alot better now i have change the discs but their still not as good as my AP 4pots i had on my RB5. They just don't seem as sharp but the new car is a little heavier. The main thing with the Prodrive calipers is the lack of pad choice The best kit especially for value i would say is the Hi-spec 6pot kit with 335*32 discs. Hi-spec calipers are easily a match for AP's, TSL also sell these
Prodrive springs i find fine although there not obviously as good a LEDA they are a good compromise and don't cost £1500. You will notice a big difference as soon as you get it done especially with the Prodrive settings. I'm also running a bit more negative camber at 1.4 degrees
A STI scoop with the undertray bits aswell will bring inlet temperatures down by about 8 degrees
Theres big on road gains to be had from the APS induction kit but this coupled with the de-cat and ported headers made my car run slightly lean at 6% at the top of the rev range. hense the fuel controller was needed
I think at the moment the best engine mods to do would be a de-cat plus ecu-tek. i'm getting fed up of throwing money at it (about £6000 in all) but i am tempted at getting a ecutek and winding it right up to the limit
Speaking to Merv recently they had about 285bhp with a conservative map and a downpipe cat still in place
hope this helps Mike

Cheers Scott. We'll probably go for the APs then, as I have these on the Escort and they are a known quantity.
Will then concentrate on handling, so was thinking of the new Bilstein coilover kit, which will also transform the looks (along with a proper spoiler).
Not so sure about the engine mods, as don't want to compromise the reliability (it already has Prodrive kit on it), but am interested in the intercooler efficiency upgrades - what is involved and how is the 8% measured?

Hi Scott, good to see you again at Brands! Not to good to see your scoob tarnished.
Hope to see it back to tarty condition soon.
P.S I don't know if you noticed, but I spotted some rather nasty foreign graffiti on your rear wing
Take care, 4wd aint everything!
Jacko.

Mike, I measured inlet temperatures before and after i put the scoop on and found that temps can drop up to 8degrees in cold weather with the bigger STI7 scoop

Scott,
You're gonna call me picky now, but were the ambient temps like for like, as the 8° could have been down to the change in the outside temps? What did you test the ACTs with?

Mr Picky
The ambient temperatures were around about 13degrees if i remember rightly, well accordind to the one on the dash anyway.
My mums a nurse so i borrowed her mercury themometer and put it in my inlet manifold. then every five minutes i got out and checked it
seriously though I've got a K type themocouple into the inlet manifold after the intercooler and i've got it connected to a digital thermometer that i got from a A/C suppliers. The thermometer reads 2 time a second
At the time admitidly i did'nt do many before readings but maximum was 42degrees through hard fast driving. After i fitted the scoop it went down to 34degrees maximum
