My Hawkeye Sti
Iam a new member and my first taste of subarus I've had a R32 Gtr for the last 4 years purchased for an investment with a bit of fun at the weekend.I received an offer on Facebook for it that I couldn't refuse even though it wasn't up for sale.my sensible head was going to get a buy to let flat/house as a future income as a pension as iam a old git now but as the weeks went by without a toy the itch grew too big so I bought a 06 hawk sti 75k full service history had it about a week and loved it but after reading a few horror stories about the 2.5 engine I got it booked in at East Kent Subaru originally just a full service but in the end its
Full service
Head gaskets Rcm
Cam belt
Upgraded oil pump Rcm
Valves re set
Lowering springs
Carbon front lip
Rear diffuser
Head bolts
Killer b oil catch
New sump
New exhaust the one that was on it was 4 inch and way too loud
And whatever the thing that stops oil sloshing around sry but cannot remember what its called
So I've had it just over a month and the garage have had it 3 weeks but cannot wait to get it back and give it some proper beans without worrying.

I tried to keep as much standard as I could engine wise I think was about 300bhp so nothing outrageous but when the twin turbos kicked in it was fun i have a lot of A roads around me which it really came alive.
I do miss it but hey ho i made good money on it and what do,you do id loved to be financially well off enough to just sorn it and put it away for another 10 years but I wanted to move on

The pistons are also known for being a weak point on the 2.5 mate he is saying. If you can afford some forged pistons aswell you should get them fitted to. The 2.5 like in yours is a fantastic engine once properly upgraded

iTrader: (20)
Weak block
Weak pistons
Poor head gaskets
I would do nothing less than a closed deck conversion, forged rods and pistons and decent headgaskets. If it's out of the car and in pieces it makes sense to give it the best chance to start with.
