Default Gauge Wiring-Nearly but not quite

Hoping someone can help

I have just installed a prosport stepper boost gauge in my A-pillar. I have it working but not quite right. I get the opening ceremony but no closing ceremony

I'm guessing this means the ACC I have chosen is not perm? I also get a repeat opening ceremony on every ignition turn. Again, as I understand it, this means my ACC does not stay on when turning the key from ignition to start?

So question is, any ideas what would give me this perm ACC?
I chose to wire direct to fuse box using fuse extensions to keep it neat and simple.

Red wire - connected to Radio/clock (fuse 9)
Orange wire - connected to cigarette lighter (fuse 4)
White wire - not used
Black wire - earthed to top right fuse box securing bolt. See picture 2.

Any advice on what I'm doing wrong and how to rectify it would be very much appreciated

The gauge is very noisy as well? Not the beep but like a whooshing sound? This normal?

you only get an opening sweep if that's what you mean??

When ignition is turned off, each part of the gauge turns off abit at a time with the needle itself being last to stay lit up

Hi mate. Yeah I get the opening sweep but when I turn the car off the gauge just turns off immediately, not bit by bit as it should. Which kinda reinforces the idea I do not have a perm live. I'm guessing the peak feature won't work either as it won't remember it!

Radio has perm live to remember the stations right? I wonder if I just swap over what I've done?

So red wire to ciggy lighter and orange to the radio/clock?

Although saying that, I think the radio/clock cuts off between ignition turns?

Man I hate electrics!

I don't think the radio is perm live, but the cig lighter maybe. swap those two over./

I think the only permanent live on that board will be the parking lights.

Hi guys, thanks for your suggestions

By trial and error (a lot) I think I have a winning combo

Battery - red wire - fuse 3 (central locking)
ACC - orange wire - fuse 18 (cruise control)

I don't have cruise control but it worked!

So I now get opening and closing ceremony. AND gauge only comes on at ignition position ON! So no repeat beeping or light show if you turn ignition before starting car for any reason. The final test will be to see if this combo drains my battery For now though, all good

Although the gauge is still noisy on start up? Sounds very mechanical?

LOL, that's the user adjustable alarm.

Did you not get any instructions with it?

yeah i did. I don't mean the beep. I mean after the beep, as the needle is still dancing, sounds like the motor needs some oil! Listen carefully and you'll hear it. Just done a youtube search and it seams others are similar. Perhaps it's normal. Just assumed they'd be silent (apart from the beeps of course)

My Defis occasionally make little clicking sounds, I think it's to do with the stepper motor inside. I've had mine ten years now, so I'm not worried.
