Default oil temp gauge

Been trying to wire up my apexi oil temp gauge and it doesnt seem to work
i have a blue and white wire coming from the actual temp sensor but here lies the problem, on the diagram the blue wire is a negative and the white wire is for the lights :s
i have already got the lights working with + and -
here is the diagram below if anyone can shed any light
thanks

indeed very confusing instructions
they are wired up like you said, now just going to get a (+) from ignition and see if it works

Looks simple enough to me:

Red to ignition, white to lights, blue to the sender and black to earth.

Can't see the problem?

It does look simple
Well that was my first thought
Absolute nightmare it's turned out lol, red wire to ignition, black to battery blue to sender and white to lights
I get an oil temp reading when I turn ignition with the needle light constantly on, as soon as I turn my lights on the gauge lights up (needle still lit up) but the temp reading just drops to zero

Yes black is going to battery,I thought it was due to fact I was connecting black to earth under steering, so I got wire from battery to the gauge but made no difference

Theres only 2 wires coming from the sensor (blue and white)
I would have thought the sensors earths on the
Block (I'm not a fan of electrics so let me know if I'm wrong)

From a previous set I had that were knock offs only had one wire to the gauge from the sensor and would not earth properly through the block. I then bought some pro sport ones that had a two wire sensor and never had any problems. Therefore, I believe one of the wires on the sensor is an earth wire.

i think you need to connect the blue wire from the gauge to the white wire from the sender. i think on ur instructions it says on temp sensor ''to gauges'' full stop ''white wire'' rather than saying to the gauges white wire then do the black wire on temp sensor to the chassis rather than the block usually get a better ground like that good luck bud
