Gauges not keeping memory

Gauges not keeping memory
Just installed some Prosport gauges (boost, oil temp/pressure) and I'm finding they're not keeping the memory when I turn the engine off.
The gauges have 4 wires:
Red, Black, White and Orange. I've connected the red and black to red and black from the cigarette lighter - I thought these would give me the permanent power feed to retain the memory? White to the radio violet (illumination) and Orange to radio Yellow/green (+12 volt accessory).
Followed instructions from an install thread on here:
STI7 STI JDM
p.s.
Is there any way of turning the loud beeping on start up?! real ear shattering
Thanks in advanced.

Sounds as if the permanent live isn't. If you get my meaning.
You need to use a circuit tester to check that it really is live, even when the ignition is OFF..........mine is wired into the hazard light switch, easy enough to get to and a definite permanent live.
As reagrds the volume of the beeping, no, afaik, you can't turn it down, but it shouldn't beep unless the ignition is on, engine NOT running. Once the engine is running, the beeping should stop.

Cigarette lighter is doubtful to be permenant live mate - otherwise everything you ever plugged into the cig lighter would stay charging even when you turned the ignition off - don't think that's the case.
You can turn the beeping off AS LONG AS you have the gauges properly connected to a true permenant live - suggest you try the stereo harness or the original clock wiring - the memory will then be retained and it won't deafen you every time you start the car

Doesn't that just turn the beep off? And will it REMEMBER that if it's not wired right?
TBH, I find the beep reassuring, I know it'll warn me if owt happens and I'm NOT constantly looking at the gauges
