Default Fault find this problem then - V plate Clio.

So I try to start the car, no crank, but speedo needle goes flat out to 160mph, mile counter starts going at same rate and i'm still stationary with engine not running.

Mr AA turns up and try to get it going off the battry pack, no improvement.

We then try and bump it, it starts but the idle revs are 3000rpm.

I drive it home with idle revs at 3000rpm, flashing warning lights all over the place, temp off the gauge (reading wrong as it was cool), when i get home idle is now oscillating between 1500 and 2500 rpm...........?

Car now on drive, wont start!! back to 160 mph indication and no crank!!!!!

Any ideas??? all fuses OK!!!

The car was fine on the outward journey!!!

Cheers,

Matt.

Dude you know the rules, dont buy french

Friend of mine had a clio, no end of issues and always really expensive. £75 + bulb for a headlight bulb change! Bumper off jobby...

German motors not far behind!

Best of luck

yep, sounds mucho like a wiring short, you need to unplug the ecu and test all the wires, then with the ecu and battery unplugged test all the wires you can get to, see if any short to each other or to earth.
