detango - with a twist

detango - with a twist
fianally plucked up enough testicular fortitude to do this. a bit wary about baking the headlights in the oven but it all went smoothly. i decided that the chrome trim looked a bit of a nothing feature so i painted these with a couple of coats of ford pearlescent ash black. here are the before during and after pics.

i also replaced all the bulbs with a set of philips blue vision - sidelight, low & high beam -and philips silvervision indicators. took me about 3 hours in total but i think it was well worth the effort.

cheers guys - i think it makes the car look wider probably just an optical illusion, but definately better than the chrome trims. i even thought about finding some pink sti decals and putting these on the outer edge of the trim but i couldnt find any small enough

Do you have to apply any heat to the light fitting to aid disassembly?
Is ther anything I should be wary of when I have ago at this at the weekend? (looks like another weekend of the
missus having a go at me!!)
Also, what HID conversions has anyone used/would recommend?
I think they look better than Morretes mate!! Bang On!
Nice one
Dave

good work - good point made above about making your they are sealed properly though..
Best mod you can do to the front is to put a Scott Lowe etc front lip on - transforms the front in 20 minutes!

And the oven..well just a disaster I don't want to remember. So still have those nasty Orange bits in and it makes me cry.
HID's I got mine from the group buy, arrived 4 days later and even I managed to work out how to fit them, so after you just read about the lights it can't be that hard hey.

when you first start the process,it a worrying time, but once the first lamp is done, the second one takes no time at all
The worst bit about the whole mod i thought was actually removing the first lamp from the car,as i wasnt sure if i had all the bolts/screws out before giving the light a good old tug to release the holding pins
there is a very good "how to" guide on North American Subaru Impreza Owners Club for the entire project from start to finish
the black light mod changes the look of the car totally IMO,plus i have added a scottlowe front grille kit powdercoated black and scottlowe front splitter also in black
looks the biz

I've got a Black STI and think that it would look fantastic with the black surround done aswell............it also already has the WR1 Grilles(in Silver),and as i have only had it a couple of weeks i am gonna get the front splitter soon.
Let me know how much you would want to do the lights, either on here or by pm as my car is in the garage until the end of the week(hopefully) and when i get it back the mods can begin!!
