Default Bulbs...

Question about bulbs for headlights.....

Outwith HID lights is there any point in buying these bulbs that claim to have 50% extra light. ?? Apart from if you up the wattage to 100, just talking about 55w basic H7's??

Any thoughts before I splash out £40 for 4...

Thanks

I've tried both osram and philips bulbs, and they do give a noticably whiter, brghter and clearer beam than the standard bulbs. I reckon they are well worth the extra dosh

SOME are, some aren't.

Have a look whether the latest group test is still on the Auto-Express website, it took place about 6 weeks ago.

IIRC, the winners were Halfords 60% uprated, Philips Vision Plus 50% uprated, and Osram 30% uprated.

It's as much down to manufacture as anything else. Think about it: get the filament in slightly the wrong place, and the light will scatter all over. No good having computer designed reflectors if the light source is positioned wrongly.

Apparently, lots of bulbs are poor in their manufacturing tolerances.........

Got H7 Halfords super brilliance for my road car dip beam last week. They're so much better than the old standard H7's (which were a decent make too) that I've just been in and bought some H1's for the main beam. They're BOGOF at the moment too (buy one get one free). £19.99 for H7's and £14.99 for H1's.

I've had PIAA super this and that for over £50 a pair before and to be honest couldn't tell the difference from standard.

So some are worth doing but go careful don't just believe the marketing ****e, go with a magazine review as Alcazar say's or personal recomendation.
