Bugeye STI headlights on an WRX - wiring loom & which lights go on?
Got me a set of STI headlights (the H1 and HB3 style), and will be putting them into my wrx.
Has anyone done this? and if so have they found a wiring loom?
Also, do both the H1 bulb and the EB3 bulb light up in full beam mode??
And if no wiring looms, is there anywhere, where i can get a HB3 connector?
Many thanks
James

Wise choice of lights they are the dog's bs once you get them going
I fitted a set as part of a HID upgrade from www.autolamps-online.com AKA www.hid-online.com (look for posts from Nick in this bit if the forum as it's him etc :thumb)
I'll have a look for a previous post of mine to save typing a lot of it out again...

I effectively didn't use a "loom" as I created my own wiring for the bulbs (connected between the WRX 3-way plug and the connectors on the HID power relay and HB3 bits.)
I had to make up a cable from behind the dash to each light in series to get the levelling system to work using the Nissan switch.
If you've got a H1 bulb it is halogen and not HID - my bugeye lights were D2S dip and HB3 main. The D2S is the OE HID bulb. If you've got H1 are you sure they're not a UK spec STi light that's had some HIDs fitted from the group buy a while back?
A halogen bulb will have two connectors. The HID one will have one thick (approx 6 or 8mm diameter) cable to it...

Hi mate,
Yep i have the Halogen H1 bulb, which i presume is the dipped and i have the HB3 (main beam).
The H1, i can 'bodge' with spade connector's its just the HB3 PLUG connector i need to find????
When you replace the HB3 bulb how does it come out?
And do both the H1 and the HB3 come on when on full beam???
I also need to work out the leveling system - but that'll be later.

The HB3 is a bayonet fitting with three lugs on the bulb holder that go into three slots in the lamp housiung and twist. AFAIR the lugs aren't symmetrical so they only go in one way...
Just clicked about your lights which means the bit I said above about power relays is bollix - I was assuming you'd got a set of JDM STi lights that are HID as standard. You've got a set of UK STi ones that are halogen only
