Default Cibie Oscar+ 100w soldered bulbs/holders

I've just bought a pair of THESE, in the hope that they'll last a bit longer than the stand-alone 100w bulbs plugged into the standard bulb holders, as arcing should be less of a problem.

Just thought I'd let other Scoobysport Oscar+ users know.

Cheers

Kev

Just done the same thing, have'nt tried them yet though, just waiting for the next bulb to blow!
I was wondering if you could do a DIY soldering job with the 130w bulbs to see if they last a bit longer or would the heat from them melt the solder?

I tried the DIY solder job on 100w bulbs. Result was not nice (atomised solder in lamp which was a pain in the asre to clean out) Don't do it!

Cheers for that pat. Tried to get some solder to stick on an old bulb holder this afternoon just as a bit of a test but it did'nt seem to want to hold on, I guess Cibie must use a stronger/higher melting point solder on their units.

Question

The bulbholders are either Chrome plate or stainless.

If the former, scrape plating off, then solder, If the latter.........?????????
I'd think silver solder would be advisable due to temperature.
