Question

Had my Cibies from SS for about 2 years and eventually the bulbs have blown (I think).

I noticed that they were both not working so first of all I replaced the fuse in the relay, but still didn't work. Full beam still works so I assumed no other fuses needed replacing.

Went to change the bulbs, managed to get bulb out of passanger side, but when I removed the drivers side cibie and tryed to unscrew the lense, the screw dissintergrated on me and now a screwdriver will not undo the screw as there is no purchase

Anyone got any good ideas on how to remove the external screw that is now buggered?

Cheers,

Dave

Last time I changed a bulb I had to drill the screw out as it had corroded so badly. New screws have copper grease on them so hopefully they will come out again!

I have never had both bulbs go at once. Have you checked the relay?

My hella relay burn't out last week and I'm awaiting the new one.

Cool

Let someone switch them on, and just listen for a click coming from the relay.

The tecchie version is to get a multimeter, and see if there's voltage coming out from the relay.

Cool

Or in my case look through the case and see that the internals have melted!

Not wishing to confuse the issue, but when my Cibies stopped working, the first thing I did was clean the first set of spade connectors after the lamp. They had corroded, and a bit of sandpaper did the job!!

Only problem was that someone had stolen one of my bulbs, but that's another issue!!!

Common Cibie problem - you have to drill it out - and replace it with a Pozidriv self tapper of the correct size.

When you get them apart you will probably find the bulb holders are buggered - another common Cibie problem.............

cheers everyone for the help.

Needless to say I'm a little f@cked off about this.

To rub salt in, I was going to buy the Cibies from MRT Rally while I am still in Sydney, but I bought a pair of X Metal Oakley's instead thinking my cibie problem would be easily fixable. DOH !

Yep - Cibies - Bulb blown, buy a bulb holder as well

Screws falling to bits etc.....

Why the hell do they not make these things last since they are on the front of a car. Suppose it just means they would have a excuse to charge twice as much for them. Oops PIAA got there first.
