Question

Hi,

I want to swap my ****e foglights for some decent spotlights. I have seen varies threads about upgrades but am still not sure which ones are the best.

I am not that bothered about price, but I do want bright lights that are easy to fit. I am also not happy having to cut the car up to fit them. Any ideas?.

I saw a thread last week about Hella 1000's (i think) are they any good?

Cheers.

Rob.

I have the PIAA's:

Very expensive through Subaru, and my dealer made a cr*p job of fitting them.

However, very high quality and effective.

Tricky to adjust, but then you should only need to do this once.

In hindsight I'd probably go for Cibies from Scoobysport.

Thumbs up

I also have PIAA's once set up they are superb
As NBW says they are very high quality but expensive from a dealer, I got mine from David Reid Motorsport. DRM offer a fantastic service got them to me within days. They are on his website for £249 as a kit including the relay and mounting brackets

Cool

I've driven a Scooby with PIAA,s and I've had the Cibe Oscar kit fron Pete at Scoobysport. They both have similar performance but I would recommend the Cibes because they look like OE when fitted and they are better value for money. However I've since upgraded to the HID system from Scoobysport which is unbelievable!
To give you and idea:- I've a Morette twin lamp conversion running with PIAA 130w bulbs. When the HID spots are turned on, I cannot see any difference between my dip and mainbeam such is the intensity of the spots.
In short, if you can afford it, the HID system from Scoobysport is the way to go.

Mark.

Hi Rob,

If price isn't an issue, then have a chat with Pete at ScoobySport about some HID driving lamps.

Cool

Rob,

PeterPerfect has some Hella 1000s fitted as does Pete Croney (I think ) I can send you some pics offline of them fitted to a MY00.

I went for the Hella Comet 200s as they were a bit cheaper ( about 300 quid ) but all fitting was done by myself and involved some 'minor' cutting to the hole behind the original fog light. There is a thread somewhere in this section so if you have a look through the previous posts, you can see what they look like and the effort needed.

I'm not sure on the fitting prices for the ScoobySport ones, better ask the man himself for overall cost

If you need any more info on mine, just drop me a line

They certainly made things clearer when I was up in the Peak District

I think in general, most of the aftermarket spotlights do the business, it's just how much you want to spend.
