Sti 7 lights on WRX
#1
Is this major hassle - I understand the connections are different? Anyone with a n/s WRX done it?
Think I'll update my WRX to the STI look - saves forking out for an Sti anyway when a PPP and de-cat on a standard car gives you more power!

Dave - let me put my problem into equation format:
spending £2-3k on upgrading 4 month old impreza to sti 'look' = p*ssed off wife.
selling 4 month old car and spending £6-8k on buying new Sti = divorce.
Is anyone changing the lights? Please.......?

I've swapped out the standard lights and put in STi versions on my '02. I'm in Australia, we don't have the levelling issue to deal with. I still haven't been able to chase the exact connectors but it's a pretty simple job to find spade connectors that do the job. Also required the addition of a couple of relays. About 1 hour for a good auto electrician, 2 hours if you do it yourself.

The only problem with modding std WRX lights is that you still have cack lights that just look different.......the STi units are MUCH better from an actual efficiency point.

Dave T-S Point accepted !
However ScoobySport Cibies seem to level the ground somewhat . . . .
WRX lights are 1000% better than pre 2001 ! (IMHO and I doubt anyone would disagree)

Jon, just spotted this thread, I'm also keen to do the same (have been since the STI was released) but been put off by the adjuster wiring issues that Dave Mentions.
From what I understand, the STi lights have a 6 wires feeding the adjuster motor, the WRX only 3.
Some guys on the Vivid Racing forum have been successful in installing STi lights. I think that the 6 wires are two pairs, so they spliced each pair together and then fed off the single feed from the WRX loom. I'll have a search, confirm this and post the link here.
What I really need to do is have a looksee at some STi units to see what the difference is, but I'm working on this
boultsy.

As you put it that way....good point
Guess I was lucky that Mrs T-S bought us both a new STi then...
Back on topic - re the lights, I don't believe anybody has got round the levelling motor wiring issue yet.
