Default Relays, what do they do?

Hi, it might be a silly question but I'm not 100% sure what it does.. reason being I think I have an electrical fault and its draining out my battery and heard a clicking noise coming from the passenger side footwell when the car is switch off. I've located to this brown relay 25229AA050.

When I disconnected it the noise stopped. So I'm not sure this is the problem and should not be making a tick/tock noise when switched off and if I'm to replace it will it do it again?

Any info on this would be much appreciated 👍

Have you thought about google?? If you do some will claim its the ignition relay but it isn't.
It's called the Main Relay and comes with the bracket, and sits with the fuel pump relay (green plug) next to it.

Cheers for that Don! I did check Google but only managed to find pics of it and saying its a relay.. well my issue is why its making a ticking noise when engine off and if I'm am to change it will the new one still continue to make ticking noises and drain my battery?

If it's clicking you've a fault somewhere else energising it.

Look for anything aftermarket. Turbo timers, alarms, boost controllers etc. If possible leave it unplugged and make sure it is that that is causing your problem. If you follow the lines on Dons post you should be able to work most of it out yourself.
