Default Daytime running lights on a 2016 STI

Hey guys just upgraded my bugeye to a 2016 STI and still getting used to her I thought it had daytime running lights as standard I looked in the manual and it said they only come on when the handbrake is released so I popped it on the flat and all that comes on is my fog light switch I thought was strange as I thought the running lights were around the lights. Anyone got any ideas?

It will depend on exact Subaru Model Year and Model code

You may find your fog lights have two bulbs in them.

I've had a look and definitely only 1 bulb in the fog lights, and they're a yellow-ish colour as opposed to the usual bright white. Not quite sure how I'm gonna find this one out, maybe call subaru?

Do you have front fog lights?
Looking at the Subaru parts database all MY15-17 UK cars are fitted with dual bulb lamps
1 x H8 bulb - Fog
1 x P13W bulb - DRL

You may find that on UK/European cars before MY18 the "C" light is a clearance or side light

Sorry i only got the 1st part of your reply for some reason, now i can see the rest of it, sorry I'm still bit confused about a clearance light?
i thought they were just bright white leds that went around the main lights? Sorry again for sounding silly but was so used to my bugeye had for 16yrs!

My old bugeye had side lights on a switch on the dash, but these are just on on their own

Clearance lights is an American term for what we call sidelights (illuminates the outer extremities of the vehicle)

Daytime Running Lights take many forms from using dip beam at low power to everything and beyond.
I believe for MY18 (Final edition here) the C lights are used for DRL as both the Headlights and Foglights are LED

Both here and in the US, people have modified the wiring/changed headlights so that the C lights "become" DRL's

Ahh Don now i feel like a bit of a ****, i went out to the car (now getting dark) and your right there 2 bloody bulbs in there! I couldn't see the other earlier! And yes even if handbrake is on or even in reverse these stay on until you switch the lights on or fog lights then the other bulb kicks in and becomes much brighter!
thank you AGAIN for all your help mate, i thought they daytime lights were on the surround of the main lights. I wonder if I'll get pulled for having "my fogs" on as you know what the cops can be like sometimes!

These cars are far more complex than those before MY07 Hatch and are increasingly so.
The MY15 on WRX STI appears to have an auto light setting on the light switch

as well as the manual positions

Position 1 is side lights
Position 2 is headlights and sidelights

Yes the manual isn't great either, it mentions auto switches like on my mrs's VW but i know mine doesn't have auto lights, but still the manual often says "where fitted" which doesn't always help! 🤣

Appears "Auto lights/ Auto washers" was a factory build option for MY16/17 which by the sound of it the UK cars didn't get.
Yours is a "2016" car but what is the actual Model Year? (10th character of the VIN will be F for MY15, G for MY16, H for MY17)
