PSNI - We'll Fair Play I say
Was heading home last night from Carrick.
Got to the roundabout just before the M5, was in the outside lane.
And I decided to boot it up the motorway to clear the dust.
2nd/3rd/4th and a wee bit more in 5th.
Slowed back down again and noticed something approaching very quickly in the distance - they were coming round the kink at the start of the M5.
At this point i was being good and doing something between 75 & 80.
Fast car catches me quickly, but then me minding my own business realise it caught but didn't pass.
Looked out side window and was horrified to see it was the police.
However, they gave a finger of tut tut bad boy and was told to slow down.
They then sped off elsewhere.
As they drove off, I just thought to myself we'll fair play to the pair of them.
They clearly must have saw me accellerate away, could have pulled me over etc but didn't.

Sounds like they had other things on their minds, like scumbags. And without a speed check over a fixed distance or a hairdryer on you it would be just a talk and scrutinising your exhaust and **** cavities!
Brings back the day I was followed from the start of the M3 to Bellevue Bridge on the bike, sitting at an average 90 they said (over ~7miles). Was more than that but I wasn't arguing. Passenger cop (normally on bikes) let me off as I was fcuked, so there are very nice cops out there.

Have yet to have a bad experience with the PSNI over driving. They have always been really dead on and have been let away with a few minors that could of cost me some nice points
Had the ones in Carrick swing round, chase my car up the North Road (a 30mph area) at a hell of alot more than 30 sitting so close to my rear i couldn't see their headlights and actively try and push me up the road which i was very unhappy about. Was slightly tempted to slam on the achors to see their response.
I have noticed as well the Carrick ones lead by example as everytime i see them they are above the speed limit

I doubt these were carrick police?
I presume'd they were Newtownabbey, because after the left me they headed off at fortwilliam to I presume head back down the other way again?
Basically they were in effect a little bit behind me, saw me accellerating hard just off the roundabout and then decided to give chase.
Completely unmarked car by the way - a VW Passat I think.

I wish I had met a nice understanding officer at 10.30am this morning. 3 points and £60 for travelling at 45 just inside the 30 zone. He clocked my speed from 406 metres away.
Lovely Man he wasnt.

Unless he had been a family friend or sibling, I doubt any cop would let you off with 45 in a 30 unfortunetly. They are really tight on the 30/40 limits with all the kiddies running around, whether the road warranted a 30 is another matter (like the outer ring junction coming from castlereagh down into sandown where it goes from 40 on the dual to 30 as u're needing to get up the hill, stupid!). I was done about 6 years ago on the outer ring, 55 in a 40, no way that should be a 40

Got done years ago at green castle where the road goes under the motorway near the cop shop.
Had just come off the motorway in my van heading round towards the abbey centre bike cop clocked me from outside the cop shop 36 in a 30 ( slowing as I passed under the bridge where the tiny 30mph sign was )
Some times its just not fair ....................... then again not all cops are Bas****s but some of them im sure would book their granny
worse thing is its a bloomin 40 zone now

Only unit really using unmarked Passats in this area would be traffic branch based from Steeple...they navy one is broke at the minute, but the dark grey one was out and working that area the other night...
Local police would probably have pulled you in for a "chat", but if as you say, you were a distance ahead of the branch car and they couldnt get an accurate speed reading before you backed off, they wouldnt pull you in normally just to talk to you about it....
M5 is a decent road too, and at that time, probably not too much traffic about .......lucky enough Just check the rear view for Xenons is the best bet for the future IMHO

I don't know exactly where they came from.
There were about 3 other cars on the stretch from the roundabout to the first bridge.
2 of those were at the start of the M5, the other possibly made me back off just after half way to the first bridge.
It was then I noticed the fast approaching car in just coming down the slope and round the curve.
Dark grey is a possibility too.
It was night time after all about 9/9.30ish.

However even the police are having trouble in the current economic climate and as you may have read ore already 26 million OVER budget for 2008....so cars are not being replaced at the same rate .....some have in excess of 150k on the clocks, and as stated, VERY hard lives in those miles

I can only comment for myself but nothing i've ever said on the other thread had anything to do with Brocks and I like the fella, so I have no problem being "pally" with him.
