Default Start buying up 1.6 saloons

I recently reached the age when I could realistically insure and run a WRX. I therefore had to sell my trusty 1.6 (WRX styled, exhaust etc). What amazed me was the lack of interest from Ireland in this car (I think we are all getting too rich here). Given the insurance issues etc I thought there would be loads of interest here, not so. However, I was bombared by genuine and serious interest from England. In the end I drove the car to Dublin Airport, two blokes flew over from East Midlands, gave me my asking price and took it on the boat back to England. They told me you cannot get 1.6 saloons there. The bloke that bought it was talking about puting a 2L in it, given the lack of rear wheel drive (and all associated parts), it would make a cracking car.

Anyhow, if you have a 1.6 saloon (sedan), it could be worth more than you think. By the way, this all said, I can't get over the speed of the WRX, nor the fuel consumption - but who cares when you are this cool.

I think the interesting thing about 1.6's (Mine was 1986) is the fact that the older ones were very light as they had only front wheel drive and did not have to worry about pushing 4 wheel drive.

I've had a 1.6GL for 10 years now and can't complain either, I wouldn't mind upgrading it but my present financial state won't allow it.
